DOMINICAN JOE HAS CLOSED
After 10 wonderful years on South Congress, Dominican Joe has become a 24 hour Bennu Coffee Lounge! Our owners, Sharla Megilligan and
Mehul Patel, have enjoyed building this space for our amazing customers, bringing you a little slice of the Dominican Republic as we
support Makarios' educational programs in the DR. But as we look forward at our many other commitments - Mehul owns a new escape room,
Lockout Austin, and Sharla has a full plate with fundraising for Makarios, nonprofit consulting, and
a new program called Ninety-Nine & One for youth aging out of foster care - we knew it was time to find someone else to lead this shop. We
began to seek out like-minded owners with a similar vision and philosophy to be the new stewards of this space. In Steve and Stephanie
Williams at Bennu, we found the perfect match! While there are some exciting updates and changes some of the most important things won't
change: our staff, our coffee, and our cause. Bennu supports the work of Makarios by bringing you the same delicious impact coffee.

Makarios is an Austin-based nonprofit committed to providing quality education and outreach programs to both Haitian and Dominican
families in the Dominican Republic. Their primary focus is their multicultural school, on the north coast of the DR, which provides
quality education, hot meals, medical and dental care and more. Through relationships with local leaders, Makarios facilitates
family empowerment training and mentorship to alleviate poverty and strengthen communities. Learn more at www.makdr.org.
